Fearghas Smith

Name: Fearghas Edward Douglas Smith
Role: Solicitor
When did you start working with the firm: November 2024
We ask Fearghas about his role as a solicitor at Simplicity Legal:
I work in the business and property law team, with a particular focus on commercial property. I assist clients with all the legal elements of forming and running a business, buying and selling their homes and any kind of transaction involving commercial property. This last area can include anything from an office on a trading estate, to a city centre restaurant or even a rural farm.
What is your favourite part of your role?
Every transaction has its own particular challenges and each client has their own story. I enjoy the variety of individuals I get to meet as well as catering to their specific needs.
What do you like most about working for Simplicity Legal?
The opportunity to independently manage and take ownership of my own clients and caseload.
What skills do you find most useful in doing your role?
Time management is key. I deal with a lot of strict deadlines and it is important that the most urgent work is prioritised. I need to be certain that every deadline is met while also ensuring that everything I am working on is moving forward, week by week.
Where is your favourite place to go on holiday? I don’t think I have a favourite, I enjoy discovering new places.
What is your proudest achievement? Completing my first Ironman in 2024.
What do you enjoy doing when not working? I spend a lot of time training for triathlons, so my time is split between cycling, running and swimming.
